AMERICAN COMMUNICATION AND CULTURE


Our popular summer English conversation program allows you to enjoy sunny California while you:

  • make new friends in small, informal classes
  • learn current spoken English, slang, and idioms
  • develop verbal and non-verbal conversation strategies
  • practice English in a friendly environment
  • experience American culture firsthand

Program Features

English Instruction: 20 hours per week -- Students will experience California summer and university campus life while improving their English skills at Studies in American Language (SAL). American Communication and Culture (ACC) is a 3-week course designed for students who want to improve their American English skills while increasing their understanding of American culture.

Possible Classes -- Conversation Strategies and Practice, Culture through Current Events, Popular Culture in TV/Film, Pronunciation Practice, Rock and Roll English, Fun, Food & Conversation, English through Music, Clearer Speech, and California Culture and Lifestyles.

Field Trips: Friday (all day) -- Join your classmates in a variety of fun excursions. Experience the local scene through excursions to destinations such as Paramount Great America, Santa Cruz Boardwalk, Monterey/Carmel, The Tech Museum, and Alcatraz Island/San Francisco.
