Checking In
All new students must check in at the SAL office before their program begins. The office is located in the Industrial Studies Building, Room 227, between 8th and 9th Streets on San Fernando Street on the San Jose State University Campus. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, except university holidays and certain California State University Conservation Days. Checking in takes about one hour. Please make sure to bring all the required documents listed on the Admission Tracking Site. During this time, we will photocopy your documents and ask you to complete some forms, meet with an advisor, and pay for DHL or health insurance, if necessary. This is also when we will give you your calendar for Orientation Week.
Orientation Week
This first week is most important. You’ll learn English faster and be much more successful in your classes by preparing during the orientation week. Plan to attend every event and get your SAL Passport stamped. By the end of the week, you’ll be at home in San Jose and even more comfortable speaking English.
